Welcome!!

This website provides basic information on marine tardigrades.
Tardigrades, aka water bears, are known to tolerate extreme environmental conditions. This is true for terrestrial species but for marine representatives, our knowledge on their tolerance is very limited. Further, the species diversity of water bears living in the marine environment is understudied, full of undescribed species. Despite the unexplored state, their morphological diversity is spectacular. This website aims to share with you what we know (so far) about these facinating marine animals including some of the most recent advances in the field. It would be great if the information provided on this website would help anyone to begin working on marine tardigrades.
This website was originally launched in 2012 as a website in Japanese. After seven years, since no similar website exists in English, the English version is launched. All contents in Japanese are planned to be translated to English during 2019 summer.
